Muscles, tissues, mobility, skin, circulation, and even our sense of touch changes as our bodies age. A variety of age related diseases such as Parkinson's, arthritis, diabetes, dementia, or heart disease is sometimes present. The world can become smaller, lonely, and sometimes isolated. Massage therapy for our aging population requires an understanding of these complexities. It can help maintain and improve overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced or lost due to aging. In addition, it can relieve anxiety and depression and provide comfort to touch-deprived elderly patients.
If age makes getting to or paying for a massage challenging, I will come to you for a session in your wheel chair, on your divan, in the comfort of your bed, or on your back porch in the sun. Standard rates apply (though see if any discounts apply to you). Regardless I will reduce or waive any travel fee depending on distance.
